Anita Parker

I am an emerging artist born in Adelaide. Spent some childhood in Tasmania and the rest in Gippsland. As a parent I would be found in the Southern Highlands, where my creative desire took flight after a health scare. Now that my children have grown and flown I am back in Tasmania, in the gorgeous Tamar Valley.

As a youngster I would use pebbles to recreate life, draw in sand, look for images in clouds, be fascinated by shapes in nature, in bark and colours in distant mountains. Constantly picking wild flowers to display or press.

I could Astro plane across my world at night or day and be intrigued by the way the world looked from above.

This wonder has found me again in my adult form and I want to be transported back to the innocence of childhood . I am once again at one with creation , life and nature.

My style is expressive impressionistic. Subjects are either totally imaginative or something I had previously seen.

The process I have developed is to firstly use conte crayon to sketch my idea on canvas, this is followed by a scraping of gesso which can at times be tinted. Acrylic is then applied by use of cardboard cut up, sticks, kitchen scrapers or palette knife. My colour pallet is limited and varies according to my whims and moods.

Totally driven by the desire to create, be it in the garden or in the studio, my goal is to produce artwork that is unique, fresh, lively and organic.

My soul sings when I paint.
